Fault Tolerant
Design Tools

Through funding provided by COSMIAC, Dr. Heather Quinn of Los Alamos National Laboratory has made many significant contributions to the theory and practical guidelines for using FPGAs and other reconfigurable systems in space applications. Her efforts include the development and use of the Scalable Tool for the Analysis of Reliable Circuits (STARC), investigations of Single Event Upset (SEU) and Multi-Bit Upset (MBU) failures on orbit, analysis tools to determine the level of hardness required for specific orbits, and tools for designing circuits that meet the stringent requirements associated with specific missions operating within specific orbits.

Please contact COSMIAC if you or your organization is interested in accessing or obtaining STARC or learning more about the ways in which COSMIAC's work in this area might benefit the efforts of your own organization.
